What does God see when he looks at me?

Have you ever thought  about what God sees when he looks at you? As those all seeing, piercing eyes glance around, what does God notice?  Does he see the woman that I say I am going to be every morning or does he see the one who has failed by 9am?  Does God see the best in us or does he see me as just this messed up lump of clay? Or it could be that he sees all of the above. Lord knows I try. I start the day thankful for this is the day that the Lord has made, and then the next thing I am praying Lord just get me through this day.

As I began to ponder this, a few scriptures came to me that put my mind at ease. The word says in 1 Samuel, that God “looks on the heart”. God does not judge based on appearance but rather by faith and character. God sees my desire to walk holy before him and to please him. He also knows my weaknesses and flaws. He knew that if we could easily walk in perfection or even perceived perfection, then we would not rely on him. God knows my every fleshly flaw and he uses that to keep me aware of the necessity to have him in my life. When we admit our faults and weaknesses to God, we strengthen our godly character and reaffirm his place in our lives.

…My Grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me ~ II Corinthians 12:9

The more apparent our faults and weaknesses are to us, the more we realize our need for Christ in our life. God is most evident in our lives when we are at our lowest and greatest need for him. If it wasn’t for our inadequacies, we wouldn’t value God’s presence and his strength. His grace and strength are not imparted to those who are strong and do not realize their need for his divine intervention because they attempt to do his work for him.  It is there for those of us who have realized that we cannot do this journey on our own. We have looked in the mirror at our reflection and come to terms  with not by my might nor power but by thy spirit Lord.

I now know that I do not need nor want God to take away all my faults, weakness, or inadequacies because I know that having his grace and strength is far  better than any answer to my prayers. God knows best. My God is so amazing. Another factor that I don’t have to worry about.

  1. That was so awesome babe. This is very encouraging. No matter how we see ourselves good or bad God sees better in us than we do ourselves. Love this. I love how God uses you…

  2. Amen. How Great Thou Art. It is so peacefully overwhelming that we have a God that is not only our Savior but takes care of our tiniest needs everyday, all day.
