Victorious in 2017

My One Word

A few years ago, my pastor had us come up with one word to represent us for the entire year. He encouraged us to choose a word that would empower and propel us to have a successful year. Many different words were chosen, such as success, intentional, focus, abundance, sow, and et cetera.   I have continued to choose a word every year since. My word for 2017, is Victorious.

Victorious is a latin word originally applied to warfare. It is defined as success in defeating an enemy or opponent against all odds or difficulties. We are definitely in a spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6 says put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. When I think of the many victories in the bible, I am renewed in my faith. I know that my Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If he did it before, he will do it again and the word says the Lord is no respect of persons.

Deuteronomy 20:1-4                                                                                                                    When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them; for the Lord thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people, And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies; let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; For the Lord your God is that goest with you, to fight for you against your enemies to save you.

So as I go through this year I want victory to represent me in every aspect of my life. Victorious in my marriage, in my health, in my relationship with God, in my finances, and as I labor in the vineyard. With every prayer, I declare victory over every aspect in my life. As a result, I have been prosperous on my job, received promotions, seen God move in my family, and my marriage has blossomed. Have you chosen a word to represent you for 2017? I would love to hear about it.

  1. Well said my Queen!! My word for 2017 is Overcome!!! I shall overcome any fear I may face. I shall overcome any traps the enemy may have in store for me. Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world. I will overcome any curveball that life throws at me. I will Overcome!!

  2. My word for 2017 is Family. This year has been a wonderful year with my family. Travis and Angel came to visit and even stayed with me for a couple of days. It was great to spend time with both of them and I am getting to know Angel more and more each time I spend with her. The name Angel fits her just perfect, for that is what she truly is- an Angel!! I can see why Travis fell in love with her. I am so happy to have her ad my daughter in law.
Of course Travis was a good catch too! Lol He is so kind, loving and a hard working, God loving man. He has a huge heart and loves unconditionly. I got to see a video of Travis preach at his church the other night. ( I’ve only watched it like 20 times), this was so special for me, as he has always felt his voice was special and wanted to use his special gift in some way. I cannot think of a better way than spreading the gospel!
Also, this year my other son Jonathan has finally had a breakthrough and broke an addiction that has haunted him for years. I feel like I finally have my son back! This is such a wonderful feeling. For he is also a great, kind, loving man! So as you see for me my one word is Family! And I couldn’t have asked for a better one!

    1. I love this. Thank you so much for sharing. Family is truly special because when all else fails we know that God and family have our back. I am so happy that you have welcomed me as part of your family. I am sure that Family is the one of the main factors that kept Jonathon fighting. Love you.
